Day 10

Today I did not have even one minute to myself. Every second was filled with teachers and students. Beside my regular classes I helped a group of struggling writers, disciplined students who got “tickets”, and coached teachers as they unpacked standards.

It was early release and at 1:45 teachers worked on curriculum writing. I am the only teacher in my department so I get to do it alone. My goal is to revamp the curriculum so that it not only targets the information technology literacy standards but also the Common Core reading/language arts standards. I want our teachers to see the library as a place bound and determined to share the teaching load.

I’m actually really excited to have this opportunity because I think that I’ll not only learn my standards better but will have a much better, deeper understanding of the reading/language arts standards.
